Levelled Readers and Chapter Books
We are delighted to be partnering with Dorling Kindersley with this high quality, beautifully illustrated series of levelled non-fiction readers for children in KS 1-2. The texts are levelled using the Lexile Framework for Reading, a scientific, standardised international method of reading measurement, which uses a common scale for measuring both the complexity of the text and the reading level of the pupil. The non-fiction titles in this category are at Levels 1-3, building vocabulary through a non-fiction world of amazing facts. Approximate correlations are Level 1: 6-8; level 2: 7-9; and Level 3: 8-10; however the design and presentation of the books is appropriate for children of any age, so they are particularly suitable for older children still reading at a lower level.
Our CHAPTER BOOKS are selected from the titles published by Barrington Stoke, who have been pioneers for many years in the area of dyslexia-friendly reading books for children struggling to enjoy the printed word. These books all use a dyslexia-friendly font printed on a cream background, and the stories are written by well-known authors such as Michael Morpugo and others of the same calibre.
